Summary

Listening Length: 10 hours and 42 minutes

From the New York Times bestselling authors of The First Conspiracy and The Lincoln Conspiracy comes the little-known true story of a Nazi plot to kill FDR, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill at the height of World War II。

In 1943, as the war against Nazi Germany raged abroad, President Franklin Roosevelt had a critical goal: a face-to-face sit-down with his allies Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill。 This meeting of the Big Three in Tehran, Iran, would decide some of the most crucial strategic details of the war。 Yet when the Nazis found out about the meeting, their own secret plan took shape—an assassination plot that would’ve changed history。

A true story filled with daring rescues, body doubles, and political intrigue, The Nazi Conspiracy details FDR’s pivotal meeting in Tehran and the deadly Nazi plot against the heads of state of the three major Allied powers who attended it。

With all the hallmarks of a Brad Meltzer and Josh Mensch page-turner, The Nazi Conspiracy explores the great political minds of the twentieth century, investigating the pivotal years of the war in gripping detail。 This meeting of the Big Three changed the course of World War II。 Here’s the inside story of how it almost led to a world-shattering disaster。

Brad Meltzer does an incredible job bringing historical events back to life。 I learned a lot about the relationship of the Allied leaders, as well as the final moments of Hitler’s life。

A most interesting book on the theory that the Nazis conspired to kill the leaders of countries they opposed in World War II。 Growing up at a time when I would see bits and pieces of war events in the Movie newsreels in the 40’s, this book put together some of those events in timeline form。 I liked how the authors presented the facts, the theories, and the actual happenings。 They also discussed possible events and whether or not they coukd have been true。 A book for any reader who enjoys wartime A most interesting book on the theory that the Nazis conspired to kill the leaders of countries they opposed in World War II。 Growing up at a time when I would see bits and pieces of war events in the Movie newsreels in the 40’s, this book put together some of those events in timeline form。 I liked how the authors presented the facts, the theories, and the actual happenings。 They also discussed possible events and whether or not they coukd have been true。 A book for any reader who enjoys wartime stories。 。。。more

Great book。 I learned some new facts about WWII。 At least new to me。 Very well researched and presented。

Fansinating book。 The authors filled in all the action behind some of the biggest events fro the days of WWII。 Readers will wonder about how the Big Three (Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin) worked together to bring about the end of war。 Ironically, you see how present day events lead back to these days。 Even Iran gets mentioned as a major player。 History buffs will enjoy the easy writing style。

I received an audio copy of The Nazi Conspiracy from the publisher through NetGalley。 When my children were young, I use to tell them you learn something everyday。 I firmly believe this。 Reading this book I learned facts about the Allie’s leaders。 American learn about WWII through the western front, tu this book teaches us through the eastern front。 The narrator was wonderful。 He made this book come alive—4 stars。

This is a page turner。 Revelations of a successful Mussolini rescue and this plot to kill the big 3 in Tehran made for an interesting read。

I like the way this book moved through the events leading up to the start of World War 2 and how the relationships between the three superpowers of the day developed。 There were so many moving parts to the saga of World War 2, and the pieces that had to be put into place leading up to the Tehran Conference。 Who was behind an assassination attempt of “The Big Three” or whether there really was a threat will remain a mystery。

Although the conspiracy part is quite small, this is still a good read about the events leading up to D-Day。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Most of this book was interesting and built on knowledge that I have based upon much reading and study about World War II。 It was only towards the end of the book that I realized that the authors acknowledge that the entire conspiracy story may be untrue。 I felt somewhat « cheated »。

The bibliography and notes given for the writing of this book are amazing。 It isn't just the plot to kill the Big Three that is documented, but the entire preparation for war and some of the biggest offenses undertaken that make for very interesting reading。 I was surprised by how close Stalin and the Russian people were to being eliminated just from immobility and starvation。 In all, it is a very impressive book。 The bibliography and notes given for the writing of this book are amazing。 It isn't just the plot to kill the Big Three that is documented, but the entire preparation for war and some of the biggest offenses undertaken that make for very interesting reading。 I was surprised by how close Stalin and the Russian people were to being eliminated just from immobility and starvation。 In all, it is a very impressive book。 。。。more

Audiobook Although there is some clichéd writing and some histrionics the information in here deepened my understanding of the politics of World War 2。 It also gives credit to the sacrifices that Russia suffered during this time something that North American historians often leave out of the common narrative。

Excellent story-telling of the big three meetings between Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt。 50 Million people died because of one disgusting individual。 I've read extensively about the atrocities of Nazi's on the European front, but what they did to innocent Russian citizens escaped me until I read this book。 A must read for WWII aficionados。 This is a really good book。 Excellent story-telling of the big three meetings between Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt。 50 Million people died because of one disgusting individual。 I've read extensively about the atrocities of Nazi's on the European front, but what they did to innocent Russian citizens escaped me until I read this book。 A must read for WWII aficionados。 This is a really good book。 。。。more

Brad is my favorite author and the first two books in this series were riveting。 He was able to spin a tale of history that felt much more like a novel。 This one read more like a history book and I never felt the plot of the Nazis was strong enough to carry the story。

An excellent historical expose clearly well-researched。 Entertainingly written and gripping。 Written with a bit too much flourish for me。 Sometimes verbose and unnecessarily spoon-fed rather than just facts。Interesting twist at the end。

engrossing read。Short chapters filled with snippets of little known history about WWII。 Very enjoyable read that I devoured in two days。

Overall really good book。 Quite fascinating, nice chapter length, good plot。 I felt it may have gotten a bit repetitious midway through, but it jumps back into some great plot and is well-paced through the end。 Great book for WW2 fans and fascinating look at the dynamics of the time and an amazing plot!

Reads like a novel… a very good novel。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 For a non-fiction book, this was such an easy read。 I love Meltzer's style and that he doesn't feel obligated to add in unnecessary details。 But about 2/3 into the book, I started wondering where the evidence was that there was actually an actual assassination plot。 I kept reading, but never got a decent answer。 So in the end, it makes a great story, but I disagree with the Meltzer's conclusion that there was ever a plot to kill the Big Three。 For a non-fiction book, this was such an easy read。 I love Meltzer's style and that he doesn't feel obligated to add in unnecessary details。 But about 2/3 into the book, I started wondering where the evidence was that there was actually an actual assassination plot。 I kept reading, but never got a decent answer。 So in the end, it makes a great story, but I disagree with the Meltzer's conclusion that there was ever a plot to kill the Big Three。 。。。more

Of course, I knew of the Holocaust, but I was not aware of the other atrocities of the war detailed in this book。 Such as the mass murders (estimated to be between 200,000-250,000) of Chinese civilians, including women and children, by the Japanese in retaliation for the Doolittle Raiders' bombing of Tokyo。 And there were the atrocities German soldiers visited upon the Soviet people--soldiers and civilians alike。 The Soviet Union, alone, lost at least 24,000,000 lives to the war。 All told, inclu Of course, I knew of the Holocaust, but I was not aware of the other atrocities of the war detailed in this book。 Such as the mass murders (estimated to be between 200,000-250,000) of Chinese civilians, including women and children, by the Japanese in retaliation for the Doolittle Raiders' bombing of Tokyo。 And there were the atrocities German soldiers visited upon the Soviet people--soldiers and civilians alike。 The Soviet Union, alone, lost at least 24,000,000 lives to the war。 All told, including the Jewish genocide, over 31,000,000 people lost their lives during WWII。 To me, that is incomprehensible。 And yet, those in power the world over continue to wage war。 Will we never learn? 。。。more

A fast read full of insights into many different aspects of WWII。 Sometimes the way its timeline jumps around can be a bit of a challenge to follow but that does help build the backstory for the events of November 1943。 The title is a bit deceptive and builds lots of expectation for the reader that the story doesn't really fulfill but still tells quite a story。 A fast read full of insights into many different aspects of WWII。 Sometimes the way its timeline jumps around can be a bit of a challenge to follow but that does help build the backstory for the events of November 1943。 The title is a bit deceptive and builds lots of expectation for the reader that the story doesn't really fulfill but still tells quite a story。 。。。more

I'm a huge history buff and this book added to my knowledge of WWII。 I don't think I was aware of these events before reading the book。 My only slightly negative comment concerns the last set of chapters。 It looks to me like they stretched out the ending to make the book longer。 The chapters started to get much shorter and less complicated (with more white space)。 It's not a big deal, but enough for me to downgrade the review to a four-star。 All in all, I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it I'm a huge history buff and this book added to my knowledge of WWII。 I don't think I was aware of these events before reading the book。 My only slightly negative comment concerns the last set of chapters。 It looks to me like they stretched out the ending to make the book longer。 The chapters started to get much shorter and less complicated (with more white space)。 It's not a big deal, but enough for me to downgrade the review to a four-star。 All in all, I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it。 。。。more
